"Clair Thunes and Summit Equine Nutrition have been invaluable to our training program and the health of our horses.  Moneypenny is a picky eater in addition to being half Thoroughbred, so we have had to carefully balance her diet for maximum performance.  The stresses of competition can be hard on a horses physical condition, but with the help of Clair all of our horses have remained at the top of their game." - Susan Treabess, US Para Dressage Team hopeful

Moneypenny is a 15 year old Dutch warmblood mare by Rubinstein and she currently competes with her rider Susan Treabess, a US para-equestrian team hopeful, at the FEI Para Dressage and Prix St. George levels.

As with a lot of top competition horses Moneypenny is sensitive to stress causing her to go off feed in particular grain feeds.  She is picky about the feeds in her diet and has not liked salt when added to her grain in the past.

The goal for her feeding program was to;
  • provide a balanced diet so that she has all the nutrients necessary for optimal performance,
  • to reduce the reliance on calories coming from starch and sugar,
  • to use feeds that are easily available across the entire country in order to minimize the needs for dietary changes while away from home,
  • to introduce alfalfa to her diet as a potential ulcer preventative.

Moneypenny just came back from a multi-day trip away from home and Susan was happy to report that there had been no digestive upsets and that Moneypenny performed exceptionally.  Moneypenny is even eating salt!
